The ancient city of Troy was first discovered by German archaeologist Heinrich Schliemann during the excavations between 1870 and 1890. What Schliemann did not realize at first sight was the layered structure of the city. Later, as a result of Wilhelm Dörpfield's excavations in 1895, it revealed that the area was the site of the Trojan War.
Historical Ilion or “Wilusa” city, as called by the Hittites, located in Hisarlık region of Canakkale (Dardanelles). It was besieged for ten years by the Greeks during the Trojan War. It is the legendary city that was founded thousands years ago has served as basis for many ancient myths… for one of the oldest and most known stories of the history of humankind, where the dreams and truth, science and utopia mixed into each other…
Brad Pitt was magnificent in the film, but he has nothing on this explosive live music and dance version of Troy. Choreographer Mustafa Erdogan modelled his show on the stories of the famous poet Homer about the Trojan Horse. Homer is the most famous ancient Greek poet and was born in Izmir (now in Turkey), which was called Smyrna at the time. Through thirteen scenes this show takes you on a dazzling tour of history.
