Pamukkale means cotton castle in Turkish. This name is drived from the white travertains looks like cottons.
Pamukkale is an Unesco world heritage site and under the protection of international heritage discipline. Long ago people in Pamukkale were free to walk over the lime terraces. This made the terraces losing the white colour turns to be dirty white. The city consul of Denizli and ministry for tourism of Turkey came to take some serious decisions for Pamukkale and the first things was to close travertines for people walks. This was done and since then the travertines came to gain back its original colours through some years. Now the white colour looks quite alive again.
Tour itinerary
06.00 Pick up from hotels in and around Fethiye.
Arriving in Pamukkale will be at about 12:30
Following the lunch you will get a fully guided tour of Pamukkale and Hierapolis Ancient City. There will then be some free time for you to wander around the lime terraces yourself, take a quick dip in the natural spring waters or spend the time as you like.
16.00 Depart from Pamukkale to head back to Fethiye
Drop off to your accommodation in Fethiye and surrounds
The tour guiding will be in English, however your bus driver speak no english. When you are booking, please ensure you advise us the name of your hotel/hostel you are staying in Fethiye so we can organise your pick up and transfer with the bus driver beforehand. - Drop off and transfer times are vary depending on hotel/hostel locations.
